Kayaking
Everyone ages 10 and up can have fun learning basic kayaking, boating safety and snorkeling skills. Certified ocean lifeguards instruct students on techniques while they explore the nearby Carpinteria Reef and kelp beds. Waterproof cameras are recommended as students may free dive from anchored kayaks. All students are providedwetsuits and safety equipment. Snorkeling gear is not provided, but is available at the Carpinteria Beach Store (located adjacent to the volleyball courts onLinden Avenue) for a 25% discount with proof of enrollment.
Kayak rentals are available weekends and afternoons beginning thefirst week of July through Labor Day. The cost is $15 per hour per person (children under 12 years are $10 per hour if accompanied by a paying adult). First come, first served starting at 10:30 am at Ash Avenue on the beach. All rentals include life vest, paddle and helmet.

Sailing
Ages 10 and up learn basic sailing and boating safety skills in our 18’ Hobie Cat. Participants will learn how to catch the wind and ride across the water. Instruction is provided by certified lifeguards and sailing instructors.
Surfing
Ages 8 and up will learn to ride the waves whether they are a beginner or intermediate surfer. Our certified lifeguards, who are experienced surfers, will teach safety, technique and etiquette.
